Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing every aspect of our life from the way we work and have fun to the way we research and inform ourselves. But when it comes to the process of learning many serious concerns arise. Where should the boundaries be in the use of AI? How can we safeguard that we won’t create a new era of the “few and blessed” ones?
According to Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, the promise of “AI for all” must ensure that everyone benefits from this technological revolution, without deepening inequalities.
UNESCO highlights the importance of a human-centered approach to AI in education. This means focusing on inclusion, equity, and fair access for all learners, regardless of where they live or their background.
To support this vision, UNESCO has developed:
- Guidance for policymakers on integrating AI in education,
- Competency frameworks for both teachers and students to better understand opportunities and risks,
- And international initiatives like the Beijing Consensus, which set the stage for global collaboration.
